Cereals – These are a great source of carbohydrates and work wonders for kids early morning. Mothers who are always in a hurry can serve their kids a delicious and nutritious bowl of cereals with cold milk. Different flavors available in the market never make you fall short of options.

(The guidelines for these 4 particular fat-fighters are a good idea for anyone, diabetic or not.) Here are a few examples of the fiber content of some common foods: 1 medium apple = about 3 grams, 1/2 cup fresh raspberries = 4 grams, 1 cup cooked fresh spinach = 4 grams, and 1/2 cup chickpeas = 6 gram. In reference to the above tidbit, this is why it is important to eat whole-grain breads.

Soybeans, soy nuts, soymilk and tofu can actually help to reduce the production of new cholesterol. This is also a great way to boost protein in your diet if you are vegetarian or vegan or just want an alternative to meat. It is versatile and can be prepared many different ways. If you are at all at risk of prostate or breast cancers, you should check with your doctor before adding soy to your diet because these cancers may feed off of some of the nutrients in soy.

Participate in at least one internship during college. You can gain valuable real-world experience by interning and get a better feel for what your post-college career might be like. A good internship may even lead to a job opportunity further down the road. Ask about internships at your school.
